The award for the Best Local Export was introduced by means of a video presentation, the first frame of which was the familiar 80,000 strong crowd at Stars For Free held in Germany .... and there is only ONE local export who can boast such a crowd at such a festival. The video also included shots from other performances in Germany during Ira's tour (which had comprised of 20 - 30 gigs), shots from Ira's performances in Italy this year and also her local appearances at the prestigious Isle of Mtv and O'Scia' events.

It was also very pleasing to tune to XFM Saturday morning, the official MMA radio station, to hear that the presenters of that particular programme had proclaimed Ira the "Queen" following the results. It was also great to hear that they themselves were stating that her performance was the best of the night and that the energy she showed on stage was second to none other. Her performace kicked off with a presentation detailing all the humanitarian work Ira Losco does and supports. I liked the idea, as it showed another side of Ira, which maybe some ignore or don't know about. Even though she is one extremely busy artist she still finds time to support numerous foundations and projects, both locally and abroad. Her performance following was as always as expected - energy oozing off the stage and the crowd going crazy for those five minutes. Pics from the performance will be included in the Gallery at a later date.

This summer Ira Losco has shared the stage with Italian top artists like Gigi D'Alessio and Claudio Baglioni. This has sparked interest in Italy. Ira Losco has been asked to accompany Gigi D'Alessio in two of his concerts, one of which was held last weekend. Today she will take part in the O'Scia' concert being held in Lampedusa. She was also invited to audition for the leading role in Notre Dame de Paris, a popular musical which is touring world wide, by Riccardo Cocciante.
After accompanying Gigi D'Alessio in Malta, this time she shared the stage with him on his last Made in Italy Tour. She performed in front of a packed audience at Teatro Greco in Taormina last Sunday, 23rd September. It was reported that "her performance in Taormina was again impressive and highly applauded by her audience" (Malta Independent, 28th September). Well, what did they expect? She IS Ira Losco after all! Teatro Greco has hosted some of the world's top artists including Alanis Morisette, Andrea Bocelli and Elton John. Ira's work is spreading out in many territories. We have seen and heard three of her songs in Michelle Hunziker's album released last year which was released in the Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany territory. Earlier this year we heard the distinctive guitar riff off Uh Oh on Kelly Clarkson's single 'Don't Waste My Time', whose album was released world wide. The remixes of Love Me or Hate Me, (which is currently representing Malta at the Eurodance festival, www.eurodanceweb.net/poll.htm) and Accident Prone have been released under Fektive Records and can now be heard on European dance floors and compilations. It might also be worth mentioning that I'm In Love Again, Ira Losco's single released in Germany in 2004 is still on BB radio's (one of Germay's leading radio stations) top charts. This summer it holds number 972 in their Top 1000 Ostern 2007 chart. Quite something considering it was released 3 years ago and the artists with whom she is sharing the chart.

Summer 2007 was a memorable one for Ira Losco fans, namely because they've had their favourite artist performing live with the best of international artists. Currently, Ira is working of her fifth album, Fortune Teller which is expected to be released at the end of this year. The first single off this album is Something To Talk About. It was a great success, so much so that it is going to be a physical release, the first for Ira Losco this year. It is expected to be on sale as from next Monday, 10th September. The single is still going strong on the local airwaves. The single is a limited edition release and includes two tracks which were recorded live at Ira Losco's Unplugged Concert last March. The tracks included are Nancy Sinatra's number one hit These Boots Are Made for Walkin described in the official newsletter as "a pumping version with raunchy vocals" and Ira Losco's own Who I Am, an unplugged version of the number one hit back in 2004. The single, available at all local leading record stores sells at LM3.95.

Malta is going to host 'Isle of MTV', a major music festival, deamed one of the biggest in Europe, in conjunction with MTV. The audience is expected to amount to around 20,000. It will be held at the Granaries, Floriana.
The concert will include performances by star performer such as Enrique Iglesias, Maroon 5 and Akon together with Malta's own star performer Ira Losco, described by Opodo Travel news as Malta's own golden girl of pop.
Isle of MTV will be held on the 26th July and will be free for all.
