"Honoured" - Ira Losco
She returns back to Malta today at 4 p.m.
"Honoured that I managed to get such a high and good result for Malta
- a result which was achieved thanks to the help from the Malta Song For
Europe Committee, which was involved in a lot of preparatory work."
These were Ira Losco's comments to In-Nazzjon yesterday from Tallinn, Estonia, after her performance which brought to Malta the best result ever in the Eurovision. She will be back to Malta today at 4pm on an Air Malta flight from Stockholm.
Ira Losco said that at the time she walked on stage she was excited but tried to be confident as usual and to do her best.
Asked whether she thought she was going to win when she was in the "Green Room", Ira Losco said that at first the Committee and herself, together with the lyricist Gerard James Borg and composer Philip Vella, were hoping but then realised that they were going to place second and they still were very happy.
Ira Losco said that the result should encourage other Maltese singers. She also said that usually we say that the Eurovision is full of politics but the results show that if good promotion is done especially during the last week, it will do a good impact and makes a good impression.
In-Nazzjon also spoke to Charlo' Bonnici, Chairman of the Malta Song for Europe Committee, who descriped the show given by Ira Losco as "marvellous" and the result as very good which brought Malta a few points away from victory.
Charlo' Bonnici also praised the organisation and said that in the last four years in which he was present for the Eurovision, the organisation in Estionia was the best and they gave the Maltese delegation the possibility to work on the promotion of the song.
